What days do hires start?

Hires run from a Monday or a Friday.

7-day hires are Monday to Monday, or Friday to Friday. Short break hires are Monday to Friday, or Friday to Monday.

Bookings are restricted to 7-day hires as a minimum.

Start and finish days are flexible.

2. Pick-up and drop-off

In this section you will find information about the collection and return of your campervan.

When can I collect the campervan?

Collection is available from 3pm on the first day of your campervan hire.

When must the campervan be returned?

You must return the campervan to us by 10am on the last day of your campervan hire.

Where is collection from?

The collection is from our property (Romney Road, Kendal) unless otherwise requested by you. Pick-up is available at Oxenholme Train Station and Kendal Bus Station free of charge. Manchester Airport pick-up can be arranged on request and will be quoted for separately.

Visit the find us page for directions to Lake District Campers and to see just how handy we are for discovering the Lake District National Park, the Scottish Borders and the Yorkshire Dales.

Is parking available?

Free parking of your car is possible in our off-road car park during your hire.

Can I arrive by train?

Oxenholme train station is less than a mile from our property and is accessible by the London Euston to Glasgow main line. Free collection from the station is available by arrangement.

Handy additional items can be added to your booking so you can travel light, including bedding and towel packages, pet packages, bikes, BBQ etc. (Find out more).  We’ll even put your shopping in the van for you if you book an Asda or Tesco home delivery for the day before.

How long does a handover take?

We ask that you allow at least 30 minutes at the start of your campervan hire for us to walk you through the vehicle and its facilities (a little longer for Larry).

When you return the campervan we also ask that you allow 30 minutes for us to check everything over in order to confirm the return of your security deposit. This should allow you plenty of time to remove your belongings from the camper too.

1. What paperwork is required?

In this section you will find information on insurer's mandatory requirements.

Driving licence

Each driver must send a copy of their driving licence prior to the hire. This can be in the form of an image taken on a mobile phone emailed to us.

N.B. It is a legal requirement for your driving licence to be registered in your current address. It is free and simple to notify the DVLA if yours isn’t up to date.

2 x Proof of address

Our insurers require us to take two forms of proof of address per driver. These can be a utility bill, phone bill, Council Tax statement, or similar, but MUST be dated within 90 days of the first day of hire.

N.B. This address must match the address on your driving license. If yours hasn’t been updated, it is free and simple to notify DVLA.

DVLA Check Code

The DVLA Check Code replaces the paper licence and allows our insurers to see any endorsements that may be active.

The check code is simple to request online and only takes a few minutes. Here’s a step-by-step of How to Raise a DVLA Check Code

N.B. If you do have endorsements, it is not the end of the world. Our insurers allow up to 2 separate 3 point endorsements. It may still be possible to insure you if you have more than this but we advise that you contact us to discuss.

Hire Agreement

Our hire agreement is a very brief form that we complete at handover. It takes your contact details during the hire, confirms you have submitted all relevant ID paperwork, and allows you to check over the van and record any marks/damage prior to hire. The hire agreement is then signed by both parties prior to you setting off.

1. Is kit included in the campervan?

In this section you will find information on what contents you can expect to find in the camper for your hire.

Yes, the camper comes fully equipped ready for your adventure.
